The Atago 4430 PAL-04S is a handheld, portable, water-resistant food additive refractometer with an acetic acid scale that measures in the 0.0 to 20.0% (g/100g) range, has automatic temperature compensation (ATC), an LED display with external light interference (ELI) technology, and an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resin Ingress-Protection (IP-65)-rated body. A food additive refractometer measures the amount of an ingredient in a food substance and displays the results. Handheld refractometers, also known as sugar meters, concentration meters, or Brix meters, are commonly used in the culinary, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, educational, geological, chemical, and ecological industries, and for water-testing applications.
This refractometer is housed in an ABS resin body for use with food samples. The 4430 PAL-30S features ATC for immediate, accurate readings, with an ambient temperature range of 10 to 40 degrees C. The unit is factory-calibrated (calibration certificate not included) and can be calibrated with tap water. The metal sides of the sample well allow the sample temperature to conform quickly and evenly to the prism temperature for accurate measurements. The sloped shape eases sample pouring, and helps avoid spills while taking measurements. The outer shell is shaped for easy gripping, with raised grip dots on the back side where the fingertips rest. The LED-illuminated digital display with ELI technology helps provide accurate measurement near windows or outdoors. ELI alerts the user that there is too much light, such as direct sunlight, penetrating through the prism. The unit displays both acetic acid and temperature within three seconds, and comes with a protective plastic storage case with a foam cut-out insert to cushion the instrument.

Lubegard Heavy Duty Coolant Treatment outperformed all other supplemental coolant additives (SCAs) to such a degree that it effectively stands in a league of its own.
The Penray PenCool 2000 and PenCool 3000, Cummins Fleetguard DCA-4 and Lubegard HD coolant treatment were all tested using ASTM certified procedures. These tests allow evaluation, and benchmarking, of corrosion protection performance. They included ASTM D4340, ASTM D1384, and ASTM D2570. Each of the products passed these tests, with the exception of the PenCool 2000. It failed due to its inability to provide adequate corrosion protection of aluminum. The Lubegard 2-in-1 heavy duty coolant treatment passed all tests with the most margin to spare. It provides aluminum protection with newer, proprietary organic technology than it's competitors. Additionally, Fleetguard utilizes phosphate for pH buffering - an ingredient that Detroit diesel does not permit for use in their systems.
Lubegard contains no phosphate, and receives across-the-board OEM acceptance. It contains wetting agent ingredients, which provide engine temperature reduction performance - eliminating the need and expense of using an additional product like Red Line diesel water wetter. Testing has shown that the polysiloxane in water wetter polymerizes to form a nasty layer of slime within the radiator. Lubegard does not contain any polysiloxane ingredients. The treatment eliminates the need to buy multiple products. It is the only supplemental coolant additive that contains complete corrosion protection and wetting agents, all in one. It is chemically engineered to reduce the surface tension of coolant, allowing it to more deeply penetrate metal surfaces at vital heat-transfer areas. This decreases operating temperatures and significantly reduces the possibility of engine overheating.
This product does not contain ethylene glycol.
