Description

Our Cactus and Succulent Blend potting mix includes coir, perlite, pumice, sand, and stalite. This fluffy and free draining mix made with coir is ideal for succulents, cactus and epiphylliums. Pumice rock and stalite combine to provide the drainage that these plants demand. We recommend this mix for plumeria as well. This mix is also good for Christmas Cactus! Feel free to contact us if you are unsure which Potting Mix is right for your plants. This mix is distinguished by what it doesn't have in it, peat moss. We make this mix with Coir which is ground coconut husk and the absence of peat is key to getting rid of fungus gnats. Fungus gnats are attracted to peat moss, and almost all commercially available plant mixes are made with peat moss. This coir based mix has no peat and the coir we use is a bit more costly, but it is also more durable, resistant to fungus (and the gnats), and is a wonderful free draining mix for prized houseplants and tropicals. Note: In general, one quart of potting mix fills a six inch wide pot, two four inch pots, or half of an eight inch pot with no plant in it.

Description

SuperFly Bonsai's Succulent & Cactus Soil Mix

This mix is perfect for succulents and cacti of most types. When watered this soil stays wet for just the right amount of time before drying. The components promote air to the root system which makes roots happy. Happy roots = Happy Plants.

Is It Dirt?
No. Most Succulents and Cactus do not like "dirt" and will in most cases die if left in dirt over long periods of time. This is substrate.

What Is In It?
The primary components are Akadama, Pumice, Pine Bark and Haydite. These components have been found over time to provide the best drainage, water retention, nutrient retention and air circulation possible to promote healthy succulents and cacti.

- 1/4 Japanese Hard Akadama - is a clay like component that is excellent at retaining water and it breaks down allowing roots to grown in it's place.

- 1/4 Pumice - is a volcanic byproduct that is excellent at retaining water and nutrients.

- 1/4 New Zealand Radiata Pine Bark - this bark has proven to last many years in a pot without breaking down. Pine bark helps hold water and fertilizer that keep succulents and cacti happy.

- Haydite - (expanded shale) has the ability to absorb excess water then release it slowly back to the roots.

Description

Our Succulent Soil Mix is made right on our small, family run nursery. Each batch is mixed fresh using a combination of organic peat moss, composted pine bark, perlite, and the proper amount of lime to adjust the ph. Our father started growing plants in 1980 and will be the first to tell you the right soil is the key to growing the best plants. Thats why we are here today to offer you our family's Succulent Soil Mix! We want you to have the best advantage to grow the highest quality plants.....from the start! Potting up your succulents using our Succulent Soil mix is easy. Just take your plants out of their current container. Be careful not to bust apart any of their fragile roots or break the plant's stem. Arrange the succulents how you see best in their new home, softly spread the soil around. Be careful not to bury the plants to deep. Gently press the soil around each plant, and water lightly when finished. Remember, Succulents are an easy to care for, drought tolerant, ornamental plant. Care: Give succulents the brightest light or sunniest window you can provide for at least 4-6 hours of sunlight per day. Watering: Feel the soil at least one inch down; if the soil is dry it is time to water the plant. Drain thoroughly. If not in a pot with drainage holes, drastically reduce water intake. Do not over water as this can be damaging the the succulents roots. Succulents cannot handle freezing temps.
